Build the budget in separate columns
Create one column for supplier components and another for workshop work. Under components, list the body package, glazing, doors and hardware, exterior trim, interior foundation and any frame-related supply. Under workshop work, identify assembly, preparation, finishing and other tasks to be quoted by the people doing them.
A third list for transport and remaining purchases makes gaps easier to spot. A low figure in one category does not tell you the finished total when another category is still undefined. Keep unquoted items visible instead of treating an empty line as a zero cost.
Check what the starting kit actually covers
The core offering is a fiberglass body and fiberglass interior foundation. Confirm the precise panel list, pieces and supplied finish in the written quotation. Glass, door hardware, bumpers, grille, trim and frame-related components are discussed separately according to your selection.
Pictures often show several categories together. A body with a bumper and grille fitted is useful for visualizing the project, but it is not an itemized package. Compare your quote with your list, rather than with everything visible in the image.
Make quote comparisons like for like
Two quotations can look similar while covering different parts or work. Mark the items included, excluded and still to be confirmed on each one. Record quantity, configuration and finish where provided. Ask the workshop to identify which parts it expects you to supply.
Delivery destination, packaging and handling arrangements also need to be agreed. Production timing is separate from completion time. Avoid attaching a fixed finished-project total or deadline to the starting kit figure when those areas remain open.
Prepare a useful pricing enquiry
Send your chassis status, existing parts list, location and intended timeframe. State whether you want the fiberglass foundation, a body with selected components, or a wider project selection. This gives the quotation a meaningful boundary.
