THE BUILD GUIDE / PROJECT PLANNING
Understanding a Gullwing Door Mechanism
Treat the door as one assembly with distinct opening, support and closing components. The fiberglass panel, hinges, strut and latch system need to be specified together for the build.

Name the component groups
The catalog distinguishes upper front and rear hinges, a telescopic door spring strut, hook-lock and latch components, and a lock case. The fiberglass door panels sit in the body category. These names help you ask about the right function rather than requesting an undefined door mechanism.
An enquiry should identify both the door side and the component position. If parts are already installed, explain the arrangement and supply any known identifiers. A diagram can help identify a type of component without proving that it matches your existing assembly.
Keep the mounting arrangement with the component
The selected hardware and the body or door structure must be considered in the same discussion. Ask which mounting pieces, counterpart parts and fixings accompany the quoted items, and which are outside the supply scope.
No universal strut rating, attachment layout or structural capacity is given here. These values must come from the applicable specification and the people responsible for the actual assembly. Do not derive installation dimensions from a resized website image.
Plan closing hardware at the same time
Hook-lock and latch components should be reviewed with the matching lock case and the intended mounting pieces. A door parts list is incomplete if it records the hinges and support mechanism but leaves the closure system unnamed.
Ask your builder to identify the information needed to confirm the whole system before final body finishing. Keep installation and validation as a defined workshop stage rather than assuming a collection of parts establishes a functioning result.
Turn the overview into an enquiry
For a new project, list the door panels and all hardware groups you want supplied. For a repair or replacement, identify the one item needed and the surrounding system it will join. State quantities and open fitment questions.
The door mechanism landing page and individual component pages provide the next step. Current pricing, finish, availability and fitment are confirmed by quotation; this guide is a planning overview, not an installation manual.
