GULF COAST GULLWING / BODY & COMPONENTS

Gullwing Door Mechanism

Opening, supporting and closing the door involve different components. Plan the hardware as a coordinated assembly with the fiberglass structure.

Break the mechanism into clear functions

Start by naming the parts of the system you need to discuss: upper front and rear hinges, a door spring strut, the hook-lock and latching components, a matching lock case, and their mounting hardware. This gives a more useful enquiry than asking for a complete mechanism without defining its contents.

The fiberglass door panels are a separate component category. Include them in the same conversation when planning a new build, but keep their price and supplied piece list distinct from the mechanical hardware.

Coordinate support and closing hardware

The telescopic spring strut is offered as a door mechanism component. Its selection and mounting need to suit the complete door assembly. No universal force or load rating is published, and a technical reference image should not be used to derive one.

Hook-lock and latch components need to be discussed with their matching lock case and mounting pieces. Confirm the door side, quantity and counterpart parts. Closing hardware should be part of the initial specification, rather than something selected after the rest of the door has been finished.

Make interfaces visible in your parts list

A coordinated list records what joins to what. Identify the body, the door panels, the upper mounting arrangement, the support mechanism and the closure system. If some components are already on hand, supply their details rather than simply marking the entire door system as complete.

Ask for current specifications and the applicable installation information. Your builder should determine the fitting procedure and validation needed for the actual structure. This page provides component planning guidance; it is not a structural design or a universal installation procedure.

Request the right level of supply

You can enquire about one part or a broader hardware selection. For an individual part, describe the system it is joining. For a new assembly, ask for the component list to be reviewed as a whole. Pricing, finish, quantities and availability are confirmed by quote.

The build guide offers a plain-language overview of the mechanism and a checklist for discussing hinge installation with your workshop. Use those guides to organize questions, then use the component pages below to specify what you need.

Frequently asked questions

Does a door panel include all the mechanism parts?

The fiberglass panels and hardware are configured separately. Confirm each item in the quotation.

Is the spring strut’s rating shown online?

No load or force rating is published. Request the specification appropriate to the complete door assembly.
